At Millstream we’re used to producing videos and photography that showcase the products and services our clients have to offer. However, in recent years consumers are increasingly considering a company's ethics around people, community and the environment - alongside service quality.
Businesses now need to make a conscious effort to contribute towards a better future but they also need to be communicating this in the right way to earn the confidence of their potential clients. This can be done with policies and reports, but is far less likely to increase brand awareness or encourage sales. That’s where we come in!
Carefully crafted videos and photography for web and social media is a creative and highly engaging way to showcase your commitments and connect with your audience, so when Vulcan invited us to capture a tree planting event as part of their sustainability efforts, we couldn’t wait to get started.

Vulcan, as part of the IDS Group, specialises in the design, supply and installation of custom data centre containment solutions. With big visions to revolutionise the data centre industry, including pioneering zero waste delivery, they’re conscious of their impact. We’ve been working with Vulcan for a year now, developing their content plans for social media and providing a variety of video content for their social channels.
On a fresh and frosty morning in November, Lauren and Darren joined the Vulcan team at Ewhurst Park to capture a tree planting event. This marked the launch of their 5-year partnership with TreeApp but also gave their employees an opportunity to connect with nature. The aim of the video and bank of photography would be to promote Vulcan’s sustainability efforts across the web and social media, but also to document the occasion for posterity.

Despite the cold, conditions for the shoot were perfect. After a short briefing, the Vulcan team got fully involved with planting, getting their hands (and, unfortunately for some, new trainers) dirty! Lauren and Darren took full advantage of the wintery light, blacklighting their subjects wherever possible and ensuring the atmospheric feel of the morning was captured in each moment as the team planted 250 trees!
Video footage from the day was edited together including an interview with Vulcan’s sustainability manager to create a short, impactful video that celebrates their collaboration with TreeApp and explains their sustainability commitments.
One thing that was clear to Darren and Lauren was how valued Vulcan’s employees felt having been given the opportunity to do something that’s positive for the environment and for their own wellbeing.
