S:Craft
S:Craft are the leading shutter brand in the UK with 20 years’ experience of developing premium products with their manufacturing partners. Available nationwide, they offer made-to-measure shutters in a wide range of materials from premium engineered wood composite to waterproof ABS and hardwoods.
The brief
From forest to factory to fitting
S:Craft were looking at creating an animated video to celebrate their commitment to reducing their environmental impact and building resilient processes; from sourcing and manufacturing to the finished product. We worked with them to identify the style of animation they preferred and how we can incorporate their brand colours, font and icons within the project.
Animation style
Character animation and iconography
We went with a flat, 2D style of animation for this project, taking inspiration from provided examples to develop an art style that combined character animation, natural backgrounds and iconography. Importantly, we also incorporated an isometric map to showcase the company’s warehouse, as well as giving the other locations involved in the production process a sense of place.
Setting the tone
Positive and optimistic
The animation was split into three sections; sourcing, manufacturing, and the final product, meaning the sustainability elements of each stage could be properly highlighted. Tonally, the animation needed to be positive and optimistic, and we reflected this in the reassuring tone used in the voiceover and the upbeat soundtrack. Sound effects were added for extra realism and interest.
The result
Showcasing sustainability efforts
The completed two minute animation has been viewed hundreds of times on the client’s social media platforms and currently sits on the sustainability area of their website.
