Pompey's Punks

Client: Heritage Lottery Fund

God Save The Queen. Swearing on TV and mohicans are often what come to mind when people think of punk. What a lot of people don’t know, however, is outside of London, punk had a more localised following in the provinces.
Celebrating 40 years of Punk, we have been working with Portsmouth Cultural Trust in researching the punk scene in Portsmouth. We met with those that were there to learn their stories first-hand and what life looked like for them in the late 1970s.
This documentary explores the reasons for a punk scene in Portsmouth, the national exposure of the bands and what it means to be a punk.
A topic perhaps more relevant today than it ever has been.
